During the Smith Harris Open House hours in July (Friday, Saturday and Sunday 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm) there will be an Antique Quilt Display.
Additionally, during the month of August, there will be an opportunity to "Cool Off" while holiday crafts. These offerings are free and open to the public.

6th Annual Bargains By The Bay ~ Annual Sales Event

Niantic Main Street is happy to once again sponsor their Annual Bargains by the Bay Tent and Sidewalk Sale August 12 – 15, 2010. This always popular four-day event features a collaborative tent and sidewalk sale by downtown merchants in the quaint seaside town of Niantic. Businesses range from clothing and jewelry, to sweets, gifts, music, pets, flowers, and children’s apparel.
Come experience shopping at its best in the beautiful and scenic Connecticut shoreline villages of Niantic and Flanders at this annual Bargains By The Bay sales event. Again, this special sales event starts Thursday, August 12 and continues through Sunday, August 15.
Spend a relaxing day in our villages, and stroll the beautiful tree lined streets in Niantic with beautiful flower displays and park benches to take in the sights, sounds and smells of the shoreline. While in town, visit the mile-long boardwalk or dine one of the many great restaurants throughout town. We're sure you will agree, shopping and dining don't get much better than this!

On August 21, 2010 at 7:00 pm, the Smith Harris House will host a one woman one hour drama, "They call Me Lizzie". Elizabeth Keckly will recall her time as a dressmaker to Mary Todd Lincoln, as well as her life as a slave. Picnic area available. Rain or Shine. Free and open to the public.

Niantic Bay Half Marathon & 5K Road Race

The Niantic Bay Half Marathon and 5K is back for a 4th year. The race will be held on Sunday, September 26th, at Rocky Neck State Park, Niantic. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.

Niantic Village Halloween Parade

Come one, come all, to one of the most highly entertaining events in town ~ the annual Niantic Halloween Parade.
Sponsored by the East Lyme Business Organization, the parade will take place on Sunday, October 24, 2010 beginning at 1:00 p.m., when children are welcome to browse the downtown shops for "Tricks and Treats".
Among the parade's signature features is the always popular Halloween Parade which will begin at 2:00 p.m. (starting at Hole-in-the-Wall)
Candy for the kids and costume prizes to be awarded.

Also, following the Niantic Village Parade on Sunday October 24th, the American Legion, on York Ave in Niantic, will be sponsoring their
5th Annual Halloween Party and Haunted Maze from 3:00 pm, till 6:00 pm.
Tons of fun for kids ages 12 and under.
The AMERICAN LEGION POST 128 is located at 16 YORK AVE, NIANTIC CT.
Refreshments and snacks will be served.

Veterans Day Observation

Come remember our veterans at a Candlelight Vigil on Thursday, November 11, 2010. Festivities will begin at 10:00 a.m. on the Liberty Green (downtown Niantic - corner of Main St. and Pennsylvania Ave.). In the event of rain, the vigil will move to the American Legion facility on York Ave.

7th Annual Holiday Stroll

As an escape from high pressure holiday shopping in big box stores and congested parking lots at this time of year, the East Lyme villages of Niantic and Flanders are hosting the 5th Annual Holiday Stroll
on Saturday, November 27 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm.
This family-friendly day features horse-drawn carriage rides, professional holiday carolers along the quaint shop-lined streets of Niantic, complimentary hot cider and cocoa, and the arrival of Santa on a shiny red fire truck to the town green just in time for a tree lighting ceremony at 5:00 pm on Liberty Green in the heart of Niantic Village. Additional informaion will be provided as it becomes available.

If past history is any indication of the future, then thousands of area residents will flock once again to downtown Niantic on Sunday, December 12, 2010 for the 22nd Annual Niantic (East Lyme) Light Parade. This parade is sure to be an event folks will be talking about as the holiday season takes hold.
